The Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI)
Translational Research Network (RTRN) is a national
consortium of basic, behavioral, clinical and
translational researchers in the RCMI Centers, working
in collaboration with investigators from other academic
health centers, community health providers, and the
public to focus their collective efforts on addressing
health disparities. RTRN facilitates innovative multi-
and cross-disciplinary translational research to
generate evidence-based new knowledge and techniques to
prevent, diagnose, and treat a host of diseases that are
Healthy People 2020 Priorities
The fusion of RTRN’s five major components: scientific
leadership, research and development, community
engagement, education and training, and its Data and
Technology Coordinating Center (DTCC), is creating an
environment for leveraging the unique and robust
institutional resources within the RCMI community. RCMI
institutions utilize these resources to bolster
scientific discovery and accelerate the delivery of
culturally appropriate and cost-effective outcomes to
the doorsteps of our patients.
